Watercolor Brush Strokes

Our collection of brushstrokes are designed add color and life to the UC Davis identity. Combining them in different ways with different opacities and blending options (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) will yield a huge variety of textures and colors. These can be combined with the Steven Noble illustrations to bring energy and excitement to the old world feel of the drawings.

Be playful with the watercolors and try them at different scales. Bleed them off the page or contain them in the space. Please observe these simple guidelines:

  • Make sure the result still looks like watercolor painting.
  • Generally analogous colors work well together. Contrasting colors should be used sparingly. They can add a lot of pop to a watercolor texture but too much competition between colors can be jarring and distracting.
  • When used as backgrounds, ensure sufficient contrast between the background and featured content.
